The Russell Terrier is a strong, hardy, earth-working Terrier. He is full of life and moves with confidence that matches his keen expression. The breed's handy size, small flexible chest, nose, strong voice and fearless nature make it an excellent specimen to work vermin below ground. Its weatherproof coat may be smooth, broken or rough and is predominantly white with tan and/or black markings.
The basis of breed/conformation shows is the judging of pedigree dogs against the 'Breed Standard', which is a picture in words that describes the range of features that are deemed appropriate for the breed.
The ARTC Board of Directors has recommended the following Health Screenings to be the minimum health screenings for reputable breeding practices. The ARTC has requested the following tests be required by Chic for the assignment of Chic numbers:
Baer - Normal hearing
Cerf - Normal sight
Petalla - Normal Petellas
In the coming weeks the ARTC will be making a determination as to adding the Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) DNA test as well as the New Late Onset Ataxia DNA test to the requirements for a Chic number.
