Quality Assurance and Issue Resolution
Any queries are managed on a case-by-case basis, including manual checks, and re-testing if required. All reasonable steps are undertaken to ensure accuracy. Any queries either generated from owners or concerns from laboratory providers are managed on a case-specific basis. This could include mass communications to breed clubs and owners, either from the OFA, joint communications from the OFA and the laboratory, or joint communications direct from the laboratory. If a test is identified as having serious concerns, a full-stop is put into place on all orders through a withdrawl of product until any issues or concerns are resolved. Addional steps are determined on a case-by-case basis, but could include cancellation of reporting, or re-reporting with appropriate communications. Re-offering of a service would only resume with assurances of accuracy.

Research

Test Discovery Details
The OFA does not conduct research or develop new tests. The University of Missouri does conduct research and develop new tests. New tests are then outsourced to the OFA for order processing and customer interface. The University of Missouri publishes many of its findings in peer reviewed reference journals. Often times, at the request of breed club, in the interest of improving canine health and since the publication timeline can be lengthy, commercial tests may be made available to the public before the discovery has been published.
Ethics Details
As the OFA does not maintain an in-house ethics committee or board, the only collaborations entered into are with those organisations with ethics committees and boards. It is a requirement of collaboration.
