With the 5-generation pedigree, we have reached the limits of printed genealogical documents. The future of purebred dog selection will be digital! The Société Centrale Canine has followed the good example of other Kennel clubs (The Kennel Club with Mate Select, Swedish Kennel Club with Avelsdata and Finnish Kennel Club with Koiranet) and developed a new decision support tool for breeders: LOF Select.

The French Kennel Club - SOCIÉTÉ CENTRALE CANINE (SCC) - was founded in 1881 as a non-profit organization by dog fanciers aiming to replenish native dog breeds and to bring in and establish foreign ones as well. The Société Centrale Canine became soon the reference canine organization, being recognized as a public interest organization by decree of the Council of State in April 1914. The SCC is proud to be one of the founders of the FCI in 1911, together with the Kennel Clubs from Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. 2016 News from The French Kennel Club... The SCC is proud to present the 5-generation pedigree In 2012 the work of the Breeding commission enabled the SCC to set up birth certificates and 3-generation pedigrees « enriched » with information about DNA (identification, parentage), selection rating, health and performances (breed standard compliance and work). In 2016 the SCC expanded upon the initial work done to 5-generation pedigrees containing even more key genealogical information.

The French Kennel Club - understanding SCC pedigrees
Ann Milligan posted a article in Pre-Acquisition
Given how important it is for puppy buyers and breeders to access information on dogs, coupled with the fact that dogs from France are exported to other countries where importers may not be familiar with how the SCC system works or how to decipher information on SCC's pedigrees, the English translation of SCC's article "The 5 Generation Pedigree" will likely be appreciated by many non-French speaking dog fanciers.- 1 comment
