Basset Artésien Normand
Norman Artesian basset, Basset artesiano de Normandia
From the regions of Artois and Normandy in France during the 19th century, developed from older French basset-type hounds to create a shorter-legged scent hound suited for hunting small game like rabbits and hare. It is a low-to-the-ground hound with long ears, a strong sense of smell, a calm and friendly temperament, and enough stamina to follow scent trails through dense brush.
