Canaan Dog

The Canaan Dog is a herding and guard dog that descended from ancient pariah dogs of the region, and Syria, more than 9,000 years ago. Traditionally, it was used to herd livestock, guard communities, and serve as a versatile companion for nomadic tribes. It was formally described in 1966.
