Brief Description

The breed was developed by Louis Dobermann, who wanted the dogs to be hard, fearless, intelligent, alert, tenaciously loyal companions and to serve as personal protectors and guard dogs. Dobermanns are used by police and serve as guards; today's dogs make very nice companions for all kinds of work and dog sport hobbies.

Breed Standards

The basis of breed/conformation shows is the judging of pedigree dogs against the 'Breed Standard', which is a picture in words that describes the range of features that are deemed appropriate for the breed.
