The Pomeranian originated in the Pomerania, Germany/Poland as a small herding and sled dog descended from larger Spitz-type breeds. Over time, it was bred down in size and became a popular companion dog among European royalty, valued for its lively personality, intelligence, and distinctive fluffy coat.
