In case you were unable to attend, or if you wish to watch again, we've posted a recording of the webinar, along with a summary of Questions and Answers from the session here.

A big thanks to Aimée, Dr. Dockweiler, and Embark for helping us assist breeders in their efforts to support reproductive health and breeding healthy puppies for the future.

We're excited share an update and invitation for the 5th International Partnership for Dogs’ International Dog Health Workshop (13-15 June 2024). Our theme for this workshop is “Partners in Dog Health.”

After a long wait – largely due to the pandemic − we’re excited for an opportunity to again meet face-to-face with our colleagues, fellow stakeholders, and friends in dog health, welfare, and wellness. In addition to a full slate of social, educational, and action planning activities, the 5th IDHW will be a time to celebrate IPFD’s 10th Anniversary and reflect on what we’ve accomplished together over the past decade.

    Preliminary Themes:
We’re currently working with our gracious co-hosts, the Finnish Kennel Club, and a broader planning team to develop a program that addresses some of the most pressing issues and challenges within the dog world.

Preliminary Themes (subject to change), include:

    • Supply and Demand: Every dog counts! Animal welfare legislation - Can registries help homeless dogs? Pedigree dogs and non-pedigree dogs – how do we get (new) legislation to cover them all?
    • Breeding for Health and Well-being: How to comprehensively address dogs’ health and well-being in breeding?
    • Big Data: International cooperation, data sharing, financial support/resources to develop tools for breeding. Genetic diversity, estimated breeding values for health.
    • The Concept of ‘Breed’: What defines a breed and how it influences health and welfare in dogs.

    Posters:
Posters will be presented throughout the conference with networking opportunities. Details to come.

    Workshop Venue: Scandic Park Helsinki
lobby_scandicpark.jpgScandic Park Helsinki is located across from the beautiful Töölö Bay, just a short walk away from the centre of Helsinki. From the front door of the hotel, there is direct access to versatile outdoor and sports opportunities at Töölö Bay, and the comprehensive cultural and leisure offerings of the capital are close by. Close to the hotel you’ll find the Finnish National Opera, Finlandia Hall, the Music Hall, Linnanmäki Amusement Park and the Olympic Stadium, among other attractions. From the hotel it is easy to move all around the city. Most trams and local buses stop in front of the hotel. The hotel has its own garage and there is also a large public garage close by.

Registration for the 5th International Dog Health Workshop will open soon.
    Stay tuned for details
