Details
The C-locus for coat colour is also associated with albinism. This seems to mainly affect a lightening of the coat - reports of soft black, dusty dark colours, "champagne", cream colours etc. This may be modified further by enhancement/muting genes to make innumerable variations. Albinism in mammals is the extreme expression of this gene, preventing any colour from being made at all in coat, eyes and nose, and results in an albino animal with pink nose and red eyes, and can have health implications.
