Sample collected by - GTP specific
We work with 2 types of samples, buccal swabs and blood with EDTA. The first way to collect dog's or cat's sample is when the owner comes to exhibition with pet, where my colleagues can take buccal swabs. According to the rules the pet should not to eat about 2 hours prior to sampling. We take two brushes with buccal swabs per 1 animal. All procedures we perform in gloves and we change the gloves after each animal. If we do sampling ourselves we check the electronic chip number to specify dog or cat. If we ourselves could not take the sample (e.g. owners are in another city), we kindly ask owner to go to veterinarian for the sampling and authentication of the animal. If it is impossible for some reasons we send to owner sampling kit and brochure with sampling rules, but in our certificate we write that result is applied only to obtained sample.
Sample Identification
We try to check (at the moment of material sampling) chip number or tattoo. Data that we need for testing are full name (as in pedigree), sex, age, tattoo or chip, breed.
Animal ID/ Sample Submission
At specific point of time we work only with one dog or cat. We ask owners to prohibit pets to play or do something together 2 hours prior the sampling of buccal swabs (if owner want to test blood it doesn't matter). We use (and ask veterinarians) one gloves pair per animal and change it after each animal. We check (and ask the vets) the chip number or tattoo and compare them with data in pedigree. All data we put in special submission blanks.
Animal ID/ by GTP
In laboratory we assign a special number to each sample and put this information in laboratory notebook and electronic table. Also we assign to each sample unique authentication number and put information about animal in laboratory database. This number serves as identification that the test was done in our laboratory. If this number is absent in genetic certificate the results are not valid and we consider such certificate as false representation.

Test results provided to
If sample was sent by owner, the test results will be shared only with owner by e-mail. If sample was sent from veterinary hospital and we have no owner's e-mail but e-mail of hospital is specified, we share results by this e-mail.
Faults Protocol Details
If we see obviously that genetic material is not valid (e.g. not sampled correctly or this test is not valid for the breed of animal) we deny testing and give money back. Also if we understand that DNA hasn't appropriate quality for some reasons we talk about it to owner and ask to re-sample or if it is impossible then deny the test and give money back.
Results Query Protocol
If results are in question we ask for re-sampling and repeat testing
