Buccal swabs taken by owner or veterinarian (in duplicate) or EDTA-blood taken by veterinarian, some samples taken by GTP

Sample Identification

Order form filled out by the owner/breeder or veterinarian and sample marked with same universal sample code and later laboratory code. Information filled on order form for every animal: name, breed, sex, microchip number, registration number, tattoo number, birth certificate number.

Animal ID/ Sample Submission

Detailed instructions provided for sampling, sampling kit universally coded for each animal. Placeholder on order form for identity confirmation on behalf of veterinarian.

After receiving samples documentation and labeling a list with lab code labels is created for further processing (DNA extraction etc.), providing a guide for accurate tube labeling for manual or robotized DNA extraction.

Techincal handling proceedures - GTP specific

Test Result information

Results are reported as healthy non-carrier, carrier, affected with interpretation for result obtained. Information about tested gene, mutation, mode of inheritance, zygosity and detection method are provided. Results are recorded in internal database by sample lab code and reports are automatically generated. Certificate verification tool by certificate ID is available on our web.

Result reports are sent to client who ordered the test, this can be owner/breeder or veterinarian. Reports are sent to breed clubs at client request.

If a result is in question procedures are taken to determine validity of result (revision of sample processing and testing workflow, re-testing of sample) and to inspect faulty step (including sample collection and laboratory handling; new sample request if needed).

Quality Assurance and Issue Resolution

If owner is concerned about test result and GTP procedure shows result from the sample is valid retesting from new sample is offered to owner. Laboratory ensures avoiding technical or handling mistakes by following ISO:17025 quality manual and SOPs, if such mistakes are detected revision of SOPs and improvements are inclined to minimize possibility of such mistakes even further, including checking the method and revalidation of method if proven inaccurate or incomplete.

Breeding Advice

Advice Details

Advice is offered to every breeder on demand after receiving the results. Advice can be given by e-mail or telephone. Advices are strictly based on genetics and inheritance, any information and counseling regarding condition and treatment should be taken by veterinarian. Advices contain information on future breeding/litter planing in terms of prevention of certain conditions and wanted/unwanted color/traits, explanation of paternity results.
