Details
SNP DNA-Profiles can be used to assess the genetic heterozygosity of the breed, the line as well as individual dogs, to support breeders and breed clubs who want to maintain or improve genetic diversity. ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics) 2020 DNA Profile analysis is performed in accordance with ISAG?s standards and specifications, which enable international comparability of DNA profiles with other laboratories. ISAG 2020 recommends analysing a minimum of 114 SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism), and, an additional panel if needed. Exact number of SNPs reviewed will vary by provider, and any additional specific needs to the dog(s) tested. Non-ISAG, SNP-based panels will vary according to the test provider. Some SNP-based testing will include both ISAG 2020 and additional, proprietary SNPs. Test results may include the number of SNPs included in the test, and will often report on estimated diversity within the individual dog, across the breed, and indicate or highlight geographical difference across the breed. Some also include a breed-wide allele frequency. Optional breeding tools to aid in selecting more diverse matings may also be included.
