Details
Genetic coefficient of inbreeding (COI) is a very accurate method for measuring inbreeding and genetic diversity. Unlike pedigree based COI calculations, genetic COI evaluates 1,000's of markers in the DNA of a dog to identify which proportion comes from shared ancestors, and it is specific to the individual dog - unlike pedigree COI, which is an estimation, and applied across a whole litter. The number of markers used will vary by GTP, but it would be expected to base the gCOI on 200,000+ markers. Breeding tools to aid in selecting more diverse matings may also be included.
