The Federation known as the "Société Centrale Canine for the improvement of the Breeds of Dogs in France", founded in 1881, and was recognized as an institution of public utility by decree of April 28, 1914, for the purpose of: to ensure the improvement and reconstruction of the breeds of dogs, utility, sport and leisure in France, federate the different Companies and the different French Clubs who take care of the breeds of dogs, their development, their education and their utility to provide them, by their grouping even more credit for the defence of the interests of the livestock to the Public Authorities, Governments and foreign Companies, to sponsor the international Championships, and the general rules established in the canine Sport by foreign Associations and the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, which is part of the Société Centrale Canine since its creation in 1911 (the CSC being one of the five founding members).

These results include tests carried out under the BVA/KC health schemes (including the hip, elbow, eye and CM/SM schemes), as well as DNA tests carried out as part of official Kennel Club DNA testing schemes.
