Excessively prominent eyes and sore eyes due to damage or poor eyelid conformation are points of concern.
Owners should provide monitoring of eyes as along with inherited conformation related to eyelid defects, potential of skin folds to contribute to eye irritation along with the breed's flat face/short muzzle, the Pug's eyes are subject to increased risk of damage (corneal ulcers).
