Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), is a generic term for a range of genetically heterogeneous inherited retinal diseases affecting many breeds of dog. PRA involves the retinal photoreceptors and two major types are recognised ? developmental (dystrophies) and degenerative. The GR is identified as falling into the Generalised progressive retinal atrophy breeds under Schedule A. See the BVA's Eye Leaflet.
A PRA1 clearance is required in order to be listed on the breeder referral list.
" Before any litters are accepted on our puppy list, the ECGRC Club requires copies of all hip, elbow and eye certificates including PRA1 and PRA2." https://www.ecgrc.co.uk/health/
